Coatings Production Assistant
Coatings Department
Position Overview: The Coatings Production Assistant has the primary responsibility to coordinate, plan and conduct daily production as well as assist with various administrative duties in MIL’s expanding coatings department. Candidate will be required to learn, excel and grow within the company’s existing coatings department and will have the responsibility to promote the continual improvement of department personnel performance. Position will work directly with the Coatings Manager and will have exposure to coatings of various metals/alloys. To be considered for this position, individual does not need direct experience in coatings but must have the ability and willingness to learn and adapt quickly.
Responsibilities:
Production - Coordinate and monitor several coatings processes. Assist with production scheduling and expediting. Evaluate and interpret part drawings and process specifications.
Documentation - Maintain, update and complete applicable data records including job log entry, job routing package, inspection logs, job techniques, job matrix system and customer specific requirements. Create job techniques for new parts or processes and maintain existing techniques.
Equipment Use - Operation of process equipment, including but not limited to ovens, spray guns, electrostatic powder guns, racks, fixtures, controllers, timers, hoists, abrasive blasting, grinding, vapor degreasing and measurement devices
Inspections/Quality Control - Perform incoming, in-process and final inspections as well as accept/reject criteria as applicable on customer parts. Perform coating thickness, uniformity and adhesion tests to verify conformance to specifications.
Inventory - Verify and maintain inventory of masking and coatings supplies
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
Ability to work independently as well as to lead in team and supervisory situations
Ability to instruct and communicate responsibilities and directions to others
Must be detail-oriented and possess strong interpersonal and communication skills, along with the ability to work effectively with all levels of personnel within the organization.
Continuous Improvement:
Support the coatings manager in providing direction to departmental employees.
Take part in numerous on-going training sessions related to coatings processes, procedures, specifications and qualifications as well as training in various areas of quality control.
Participate in periodic testing and performance evaluations
Participate in MIL Quality, Process and Safety related continuous process improvement programs
Preferred: Knowledge in the following areas is preferred, but not necessary. Extensive on-going training will initially focus on the following areas.
Comprehension and thorough working knowledge of applicable industry standard Coatings specifications and customer specifications as required
Working knowledge of applicable coatings measurements and measurement devices including, but not limited to, eddy current thickness, viscosity cups, calibers, micrometers and gloss meters.
Knowledge of paint mixing ratios and volumes
Ability to read and interpret part drawings
Knowledge of inspections and quality control standards related to coatings.
Knowledge of any of the following coatings a huge plus, but not necessary: dry film lube, Teflon, CARC, epoxy, resin, powder, Nylon, Moly-Kote, silkscreen, prime/paint.
Minimum Job Requirements:
1-2+ years of progressive experience in a Assistant or lead Management/Supervisor position
Must have a high school degree or higher.
Some overtime work will be required

Anodizing Line Supervisor
Metal Finishing Department
Position Overview: Individual is responsible for all industry and prime aerospace types and classes of anodic finishes as well as maintaining production throughput in accordance with customer and quality requirements.
Primary Job Responsibilities:
Equipment Use - Operation of process equipment including, but not limited to, racks, fixtures, controllers, timers, chillers, rectifiers, hoists, compressed air dryers, vapor degreasers, ion exchange and electronic and precision measurement tools.
Documentation - Completion of applicable data records including job log entry, job traveler, contract review, inspection reports, work instructions, test data, job techniques, customer specific requirements and other documents required to sustain traceability of work performed.
Inspection and Tests - Perform acceptance tests and inspections as defined in the MIL Test Matrix in addition to basic laboratory procedures.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
Principle understanding of waste management and environmental systems
Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, procedures and work instructions
Experience processing Type I, II or III Anodizing as well as other metal finishing processing experience
Continuous Improvement:
Take part in on-going training sessions relating to anodizing, metal finishing and MIL processes, procedures, specifications and qualifications as well as training in various areas of quality assurance.
Participate in periodic testing and performance evaluations
Participate in MIL Quality, Process, Safety and related continuous process improvement programs
Preferred:
Comprehension and thorough working knowledge of specifications including MIL-A-8625, AMS 2469, 2470, 2471 and 2472 as well as other applicable Aerospace Prime Specifications.
Experience gauging and measuring parts
Direct experience with NADCAP requirements a huge plus
Minimum Job Requirements:
2+ years of direct experience as an Anodizing Supervisor or Operator or a similar position in a metal finishing environment
Must have a high school degree or higher.
Some overtime work will be required
Pay Range: $12 - $25/ hr depending on qualifications
